Councilmember District 2
Charlene McGriff has served three full terms on County Council representing District #2 and is beginning her fourth term. Ms. McGriff is a graduate of Brookstone College and attended USC-L. She is also a graduate of the Carolina Leadership Program. From 1987 to 1994, Ms. McGriff served as Assistant Director of the Lancaster County Council on Aging. Since 1994, Ms. McGriff has served as the Executive Director of Palmetto Citizens Against Sexual Assault, an organization which serves Lancaster, Chester, and Fairfield counties and, in that capacity, she is responsible for developing budgets, raising money, marketing the services offered by the organization, and serving as a liaison with the community. She served on the Lancaster County School Board for 17 years and served as its chairman for the last three years. She is co-founder and member of Adopt-A-Leader Mentoring Program, past Chairman of the SC Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, past President of the SC Network of Children's Advocacy Centers, a member of the Board of Directors of the Lancaster CareNet; and past vice president of the Lancaster Children's Home Board. She is a member of the Lancaster Afternoon Rotary, a member of the USC-Lancaster Educational Foundation, and a member of the Lancaster Youth Council. She is a past member of the Education Foundation. Ms. McGriff is the proud mother of two and the proud grandmother of seven.
