Allen is proudly serving his second term on Lancaster County Council. He was born at Langley Air Force Base and grew up in Greenwood, SC. During his high school years, Allen enjoyed working at the YMCA teaching and coaching swimming and other various sports. He graduated from Clemson University in 1978. While there, he was active in the SAE fraternity, a member of the Clemson Weightlifting Club, the Clemson Skydiving Club and a member of the Central Spirit Committee.
His 33-year career with the SC Department of Revenue provided a range of positions as an Agent, Auditor, Project Manager, Field Manager and ended as a Statewide Administrator over the Enforcement and Collections Division. It was during this time that Allen gained his views of politics, private sector issues, and government issues. He is a licensed General Contractor and a Specialty Roofing Contractor.
His dedication to public service is evident in the positions and number of organizations he has served. These include President of the Lancaster Children’s Home, Chairman of the Lancaster Planning Commission, member of the Lancaster Recreation Commission, various School Improvement Councils, and coaching youth sports. He has also served his church with various positions including finance and pastor-parish responsibilities. He currently serves as a volunteer for the Lancaster County School District's School Watch Program.
Allen’s favorite past time activities revolve around his family. He and his wife, Jane, are the proud parents of two grown children and five grandchildren.
