Our office can assist you in abtaining a copy of your DD Form 214 or you can request a copy online from the National Personnel Record Center.
What is a Pension?
A monthly payment based on financial need to a Veteran, widow or children for non service-connected disability or death.
What is compensation?
The monthly payment made to a Veteran because of a service disability or disease.
Does the VA loan money?
No, VA home loan guaranties are issued to help eligible Veterans obtain homes, manufactured homes and to refinance home loans.
How do I enroll in the VA healthcare system?
You can either apply online at www.va.gov or submit a copy of the Veteran's DD214 and any insurance cards along with a completed Application for Health Benefits (VA Form 10-10ez) to Dorn VA Medical Center Eligibility Unit in Columbia SC. The Lancaster Veterans Affairs Office will assist the Veteran with this application process.
Do I need an appointment?
Appointments are encouraged in Lancaster office so that we are able to assist each Veteran and/or his/her dependent in a timely manner. Appointments are required for the Indian Land office.
